Help Kevin's Family

My Father, Kevin, went into the hospital in late November of 2021 with covid. He was intubated after one week, as the doctors feared he would die otherwise. He was extubated after a few weeks and received a tracheostomy, but he still wasn’t waking up. He had four strokes during this time. The hospital staff didn’t believe he would ever wake again due to his neurological state, and recommended that his family stop life support. His family persisted in prayer for him, believing God would heal him.

2022 eventually came around and Kevin began to wake slowly. It was a long journey full of ups and downs, persistent setbacks with infections, pneumonia, etc. Yet Kevin kept fighting on and recovering. All of his doctors and nurses said that he was a true miracle. No one in the state he was in survives.

By April he began talking again, receiving regularly physical therapy, and was almost ready to have his tracheostomy tube removed for good. It had been said the whole time that he would never live off of a ventilator due to severe lung damage, so to come off the vent and then require very little oxygen was a miraculous step he made it to. No one at the hospital could believe the progress he was making so quickly. He was proving stronger every day during therapy. Easter was only days away, and Kevin said he would be out of his hospital bed by then.

He had an incredible day with his wife and two kids, in which they talked for hours and planned for the future. It was the first day he was able to talk at length, since his trach tube had been capped. It was also one of the first days he was able to stay awake all day. His family joked and laughed, as they always used to do together. Kevin was back to his true self and his family was thrilled. The very next day, Kevin slipped into a deep coma after a massive brain bleed. He passed away 5 weeks later on 5/18/22.

His family is beyond thankful to Jesus for granting them one of the most beautiful days they’d ever had together. In one day, they were able to see so many of the things they’d spent months praying for, come to pass in front of their eyes. They experienced a real miracle and will never forget it or the God who did it for them.

Donations will go towards death arrangements and the rest will go towards basic living expenses for his family as they navigate life without a husband and father.

Thank you for taking the time to read just a small part of my dad’s story.
