bcc lockout
The Brisbane City council electricians have been locked out of their work place without pay since the 26/5/17 after taking minor industrial action in order to have their claims heard on the current EBA negations which have been going since October. This move from council is gross over reaction and is being used to intimidate employees back to work so that no other employees take industrial action.
The electricians haven’t had a pay rise in five years but we're not asking for one. All we want is to keep our current conditions.
Brisbane city council is trying to bring in a roster system that will remove a workers’ right to choose whether to be available for night, weekend work or on-call shifts. Instead, it would force some onto permanent night shifts and include weekends in the standard work week. Workers refusing to work nights or weekends would face disciplinary action or the sack.
This roster system could affect up to 5000 employees that work at Brisbane city council
Our work schedules are already flexible. Many work nights and weekends when needed, and are available on call when rostered. The proposed rostering system goes against councils family friendly work place which the so proudly promote
Some of these guys are apprentices and/or are single income earners and are going without pay. If this roster system is going to affect you or someone you know please donate anything to help the 25 guys fight to keep the 5000's conditions.
Thank you
