Hi Friends,
I am going to run the Berg Lake Ultra (50km) in September in hopes of raising money for the BC Cancer Radiation Clinic in Kamloops.
In March of this year, I received radiation from the Kelowna Cancer Clinic and was able to witness first hand how important it is to have these services in OUR community. I listened to countless stories of people having to travel to Kelowna to get their radiation treatments. A significant number of these were pensioners on a limited income having to stay for weeks sometimes months in hotels. It is costly and hard to be away from family and the community that supports you when you are not well.
The new Cancer Center will have radiation treatment, including shielded treatment rooms, high-energy radiation treatment linear accelerators (LINACS), Radiation therapy planning, CT simulator, MRI scanner, an outpatient oncology ambulatory care unit, including exam rooms and consult rooms all at RIH!
If you are able to donate a few dollars I would really appreciate that.. Thank you so very much for your support!
Tara
