Baylee Badawy Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Baylee is an artist.
Baylee is a student.
Baylee is from Ohio.
Baylee is 19.
Baylee was hit by a car on her way to school.
Baylee does not have health insurance.
Baylee needs our help.
On November 16, 2015, Baylee was riding her bike to school from her job at The Louisiana Museum Foundation in the French Quarter. A little after 4:00 pm she was struck by a driver on Claiborne Ave. Bystanders report the driver traveling at 30 mph, distracted, and not hitting the brakes until after his car had already struck her. Baylee was thrown off her bike and sustained severe head trauma. Her entire body suffered bruising, abrasions, and puncture wounds. She was brought to University Medical Center and underwent multiple tests including: blood analysis, X-rays, MRI's, and cognitive exercises to determine that she had a fractured skull and needed sutures to close the gaping wounds.
Remarkably, Baylee is still Baylee. Although in a significant amount of pain, she is striving to get back to a normal life just one week after the accident. But, she is still far from a full recovery. It is still very difficult for her to walk and she does not own a car, making it impossible for her to return to school or work just yet. She does not have health insurance, and on top of the initial hospital stay, has necessary physical therapy and medical follow ups ahead of her.
Baylee is extremely independent, receiving little to no monetary help from her family, she supports herself while pursuing a degree in computer science. Obviously, there is a gap in income while she recovers, and that is why we are asking for ANY form of help/donation toward her future.
Monetary donations will help Baylee the most, but if you are in the New Orleans area, there are plenty simple day to day things you can help her conquer! Getting groceries, running errands, and just visiting are all much appreciated gestures! Her lease is also ending and she will need to move into a new apartment before December 15th. If you are available to help her move or have furniture/house ware or gift card donations, please reach out to us!
Thank You!
