After a 7-year run and 1000+ dogs rescued & rehomed, our rescue has closed. With your help we rescued, fostered, transported, connected, networked, rehabilitated and loved on an awful lot of pups together. Thank you for being part of our story! <3
This fundraiser is set up to help pay off some of our outstanding debt. The reality is that our rescue was always running in the red, with veterinary expenses *always* exceeding the adoption fee (and often times by several thousand dollars per dog). While we were continuing to bring in new dogs, we were able to manage of the debt. Once the rescue stopped bringing in new rescues -- and our last three adult pups needed full-kill heart worm treatment -- we were faced with a mountain of debt that needed to be paid.
Thanks to some incredibly generous veterinary clinics, we were able to allow our bills to sit and be paid off as donations/funds were available. We have been personally chipping away at the remaining debt since the organization closed its doors but we have a long, long way to go. It’s humbling (embarrassing, awkward, uncomfortable) to be in this position asking for help, but the reality is that the small amount that we can contribute each month to pay down the bills is not making a significant dent. We’re reaching out to our rescue village one last time for assistance and are humbly asking for help.
The funds raised through these two fundraisers will go directly to Davis Companion Animal Hospital and Hanover Green Veterinary Clinic to cover our outstanding debts at each location. Any additional funds raised will be donated to PAWS NELA - a wonderful, wonderful rescue organization in West Monroe, LA -- and a longtime partner of BBR.
