HELP TIFFANY FIGHT CANCER
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Our daughter Tiffany DeTommaso was recently diagnosed with cancer about three weeks ago. She was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Follicular Lymphoma. It is type one low grade and it is encased around her vessels and arteries leading to her kidneys, liver, spleen, heart and lungs plus large masses in her abdomen, in her Lymph nodes from her neck to her pelvis, and on her Aorta. Unfortunately, we were told that this type of cancer cannot be cured but with the successful proper treatment, it can be controlled and one can live a long life. Tiffany was referred to MD Anderson in Houston which we are thankful for because it is one of the best facilities in the world for treating Cancer. We will be traveling back and forth to Houston for treatments at least for the next 6 months. We had just finished her first two days of treatment which consisted of Immunotherapy and Chemotherapy on the 4th of May and Chemotherapy on the 5th of May.
Our lives have been turned upside down and no one can describe how it affects you until something like this happens. Our family is utterly devastated by Tiffany’s diagnosis as any family would be.
Tiffany is a 2007 Pickering High School graduate and lives and works in Pineville where she maintains a home. She is a single mom to a 6 year old girl while working 70 hours a week. This tragedy has changed all of our lives from one of routine to one of surviving cancer.
We are now fundraising because of the out of pocket costs and the future costs. As parents, it is our responsibility to do anything we can to help our daughter fight this horrible disease. After seeing firsthand the side effects from the treatment and how it affected her, I now know that she will not be working much if any at all. She is currently the Manager of Arby’s in Pineville but it is unknown if and how much she can work while going through this. She has enough to worry about without having to worry about if she can afford to go back and forth to Houston for treatments for the next 6 months and still pay her bills. My wife and I are School teachers in Vernon Parish and are hoping that everyone we know will share our story and our prayers will be answered for Gods healing. I do know that when tragedy strikes in this community, everyone comes together. God doesn’t make a mountain we cannot climb.
