Beth and Will have been excitedly awaiting the arrival of their first baby due in March 2016. In the beginnning of January, it was discovered that Beth has a rare and dangerous condition called vasa previa, where the baby's unprotected blood vessels lay over the birth canal. Due to this condition, the baby (whom they call "Baby T") and Beth will be in the hospital until the baby is born around 34 weeks. At the time of delivery, the baby will go directly to the neonatal intensive care unit until he is ready to go home, which could be up to two months.
Thankfully, Beth has insurance to cover much of the medical costs, but will still need to pay until the maximum out of pocket costs are met. Any amount raised will go towards the cost of medical bills, missed work (Beth works as a nurse in a wound and burn clinic) and boarding their dog Max until the couple can go home with their baby.
Will is finishing up his final year in Naturopathic college and unable to work amidst school and caring for his wife and unborn baby. As first time parents, this is a difficult time, requiring lots of love and support from the community. Any contributions, no matter how small, are accepted with the utmost humility and gratitude. Thank you!-Beth, Will, and Baby T
