Fernando's Fearless Fight

Donation protected
Fernando’s family is reaching out to all of us to unite in prayer as he fights for his life.

Fernando was seriously injured in a hit-and-run on the morning of Sunday, November 3, while trying to cross East Cesar Chavez Street at 5:26 a.m. to meet an Uber when he was hit by a large vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Details are still pending, and according to the Austin Police Department, the investigation is ongoing. Currently, he is in critical condition at Dell Seton Medical Center.

Fernando has multiple injuries, including a broken pelvis, broken ribs on his entire right side, blood in brain, fractured face bones, internal injuries to his intestines and liver and blood loss. He has gone through six surgeries already, and more will be needed in the coming weeks and days. Needless to say, Fernando has a long road of recovery ahead of him, and he and his family need love and support more than ever.

Our hearts break to see him under these conditions, but we are hopeful that he will continue to share his zest for life AND his thought-provoking art. Fernando is many things, including a trooper, a warrior, a fearless leader, an artist, a poet, an unconditional friend, a caring brother, a wild son, a passionate coworker, a risk taker, a sport aficionado, a social justice fighter, and an authentic human being.

Fernando and his family welcome any contributions you are willing and able to provide, from financial assistance to thoughts, prayers, good vibes, positivity, and good karma. They are grateful to be surrounded by faithful and genuine people during this challenging time.

More about our incredible Fernando:

Born in Querétaro, Mexico and raised in north Houston, Fernando graduated with honors from New Caney High School in 2011. Fernando was a member of the varsity soccer and track teams, and also played basketball. Fernando has shared his art with people since he was a child, and he has an Associate of Arts and a Graphic Design certification from Lone Star College. His pieces of art have frequently been auctioned at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Fernando believes Austin is an incredible city where passionate artists can gather, grow, and share their work, which led him to move here to pursue his career in graphic design.

Fernando creates a variety of art, from painting, pen and ink, drawing, graffiti and street art, photography, graphic design, poetry and video. We are currently working on his website, so more people can be enriched by his incredible talent and love for making meaningful art.

Fernando and his family would like to thank everyone who has reached out during this incredibly trying time. Fernando has a long road to recovery but it will be made possible because of your generosity, love, and prayers.

Fernando's brother, Luis Armando Orozco will be managing the financials for this fundraiser until Fernando is able to take it on himself.

Thank you.
