Pay for surgery

Hi my name is Jocelyn and I’m a 18yr old from Sydney Australia.

Late December last year I found a suspicious lump in my breast. After many ultrasounds and a biopsy it was discovered that I had a Phyllodes tumour which is a rare type of biphasic fibroepithelial mass which is more common in women over 50 but not so much in women my age. My tumour was classed as borderline which meant that it had features in between Benign and malignant (cancerous).

In February this year I was finally able to get the tumour removed but by this time it has grown to the size of a tennis ball. My surgeon was amazing and was able to remove the entire lump as well as some addition surrounding area.

I went for my 6 month check-up in September and was told the exciting news that my recent ultrasounds have shown that they have completely removed the tumour and I will not have to have any additional chemo or radiation and will just need to ensure I continue with regular breast check ups from this point on.

Sadly, since the lump was quite large it has left my breast deformed and makes me very self-conscious so I don’t feel comfortable in clothes that aren’t baggy.

I have been given the opportunity to get a breast reconstruction done but it will cost me $8000 and I will need to find the funds by the beginning of November to keep my spot. On my trainee wage this is just not possible so I’m seeing if anyone is able to help me out in any small way.
