Hi, I’m Gizmo. I’m a 4-year-old Paperanian and I need your help. I have a medical problem and my mama is going to tell you all about it.

First an update: Gizmo went to the vet costing us $430. We still need $620 for a spinal x-rays. Thank you so much for everyone who has donated to help get the diagnosis process started.

I’m Carrie and my little Gizmo has been battling some kind of neurological illness for a while now. He has a couple of episodes a month. His right leg gets stuck above his head and it’s usually accompanied by screaming.

Our vet thought he had a pinched nerve in his neck or that maybe he had water on his brain but has never done any diagnostics. Maybe she felt I couldn’t afford it. She did provide him with gabapentin and meloxicam, which for a while seemed to help, so I didn’t think much about there being anything else wrong with him.

He has these episodes if he gets really excited or if he gets upset. He can’t handle loud noises, long walks, or snuggling in one position for a long time without one of these events. And just lately, he can’t handle a flea preventative.

In the last couple of weeks, he’s had coordination problems, seizure-like activity, and uncontrollable shaking of just parts of his body. He is getting so much worse and so quickly.

This little guy has been with me 24 hours a day for his 4 years of life and he’s so very attached to me. It would break him if I gave him up to someone who could afford getting him diagnosed, and I don’t want to lose him or just watch him get worse.

Please help Gizmo get to the vet and get a diagnosis.
