The Hitchcock’s Tornado Relief
Donation protected
On April 26th, a devastating F-3 tornado tore through the heart of southwest Iowa, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Among the many affected were Devan, Jenny, and Ila Hitchcock, a family who had poured their hearts and souls into renovating their home over the past year before it was damaged by the tornado. When they purchased the property, they knew it would require their unwavering dedication and hard work to transform the existing structure into their forever family home.
Week after week, they worked tirelessly renovating their home, all with the shared vision of creating a solid foundation for their future. Their dream was to build their home together, from the ground up, weaving their love and aspirations into every corner. To make matters worse, their homeowner's insurance policy dropped months prior to the tornado. Unfortunately, at the time of the tornado, their home was still considered under construction and was covered only by construction insurance.
After working closely with the insurance adjuster, the Hitchcock family received heartbreaking news. Their building materials/supplies, transport trailers, and beloved barn would not be covered by their policy. The home structure itself will only be partially covered by insurance requiring them to cover the remaining cost of repairs and rebuild. The weight of this realization, coupled with the unknowns that lay ahead, has left the Hitchcock family reeling.
Now, they find themselves facing the daunting task of rebuilding their almost-finished forever home, with no certainty of how long it will take or if it is even financially feasible given the severe limitations of their construction insurance. In the face of this adversity, the Hitchcock family has come to truly appreciate the immeasurable value of family and community. We have all rallied around them, offering our support and solidarity as they embark on the arduous journey of rebuilding their lives.
Any funds raised will be a lifeline for the Hitchcock family, helping to replace / cover the costs of building materials, and alleviate the financial burden of contracts and supplies. Together, we can help them rebuild their family dream and restore hope in their hearts.
As their sister, I ask for your prayers, love, and any donation you would like to provide during this time.
