Baylee’s Battle

Baylee Crawford is 4 1/2 yrs. old. On April 4, 2022 about 10:00 in the morning after a nap, she began having breathing difficulties followed by cardiac arrest followed by 2 seizures. Woke up 14 hours later at Riley Hospital. Within 2 days, Baylee seemed back to normal. All EKG’s and tests seemed normal. Doctors could not find any reason for her cardiac arrest. Over the past 13 months, Baylee has acted like a normal 3-4 year old except we noted was a little slower about learning certain things. On May 12, 2023 at 10:00, she was at preschool playing in the gym with other children when she collapsed to the floor with another cardiac arrest. After intubated, she was lifelined again to Riley Hospital in critical condition in their pediatric ICU. Shortly after 9 pm that evening, she went into another cardiac arrest. After 8 days, she was extubated yet still unresponsive. She does open her eyes now but a brain MRI shows significant brain abnormalities in several areas of the brain. She is going through delirium and withdrawal from sedatives and pain medication. They are certain she has one kind of congenital cardiac arrhythmia but don’t know for sure yet which one. More testing to be done. Neurologist say they don’t know if she’ll be able to walk, talk, or feed herself again.

Baylee is one of sweetest, loving, friendliest little souls God had blessed me with. I am hopeful and trusting in God (our greatest physician) that Baylee is going to surprise all of us, and improve more than we can imagine, and will be a testimony for Jesus.♥️
