In homeopathic treatment, the prescription of the right medicine is based on the patient’s full set of prominent symptoms. In this sense, symptoms can be seen as indicators of the most appropriate treatment, in the same way symptoms suggest a clinical diagnosis. Until recently, the study of these medicines’ indicators relied on unsystematic observations of successful clinical cases, plus homeopathic pathogenetic trials and accidental intoxications. During last years a series of statistical and epidemiological tools based on a Bayesian approach to homeopathy research were developed by a team of researchers, directed by the homeopathic physicians Lex Rutten (The Netherlands) and José Eizayaga (Argentina). Homeopaths around the World have now the unprecedented opportunity of taking active part in the development of homeopathy as a more reliable science and to be served by astonishing new technical tools to make their practice more accurate and effective.
