Save the Bay Area High School Science Fair!
Tax deductible
The Golden Gate Stem Fair is the annual science competition for Bay Area High Schools' grades 7-12. The winners of the regional Stem Fair get to go to the National Fair, which is a huge deal.
If you're ever feeling down about the future, I encourage you to attend the fair this year in Sausalito, March 9-14th. Last year's first place went to an 8th grader that was diagnosed with a rare cancer, who then taught herself machine learning to predict the markers of her own cancer type (!).

But despite all the amazing kids, our local science fair didn't take place two years ago due to shortfall of capital. Yes, Silicon Valley's regional high school science fair (!)
In fact, the Bay Area is one of the few places in North America where this has ever happened...
At the moment they are $15k short to host this year's fair in March :-(
This event touches thousands of High Schoolers in the Bay Area. From all the submissions from all the schools, to the hundreds that take part in the final event.
Here is a pic from last year.. (This is only *one* section of the fair!)

The funds raised will go towards producing the event and kitting out the venue, as well as covering the travel for the winners to the national fair.
If, for some magical reason, we can raise more than $15k, we'd like to start a separate prize for schools to incentivize submissions. If schools submit a high number of entries, we will reward them with more supplies and funding. Let's get every high school in the Bay Area incentivized, involved and getting their students excited about science.
Apart from this, the event needs help with more judges- across the sciences but especially math and physics. We'd also love some cool guest speakers, or anything else to give to the participants! (eg books)
