Myla the Corgi's Medical Care

Please help this sweet corgi pup! Myla was removed from her home by local authorities. A community member witnessed the owner kicking Myla into a utility pole and filed a police report. On a separate occasion, law enforcement was contacted when neighbors heard Myla crying in the garage while being punished. Myla was found limping and had a broken leg from being hit repeatedly. Due to her injuries, she will need medical attention to treat her broken leg. The vet suggested placing a splint for eight weeks to see if it heals. If that doesn't work, our options will be arthrodesis to repair her hind limb or amputation. In addition, several razor burns were found on her body from the owner shaving her entire coat off. This means she won't be able to regulate her body temperature naturally and is at risk of additional medical issues due to her skin being fully exposed. Myla's previous owner may have also cut her vocal cords because she cannot vocalize like a typical dog.

Because of the extent of the abuse, the owner will face legal consequences. The DA plans to file charges against Myla's abuser, and the County will impose a fine. The suspect's record shows three prior animal abuse convictions and a five-year pet ownership ban. She somehow has another dog at home under her care which is very concerning!
