Bay Village Mom / Cyclist

As many of you know, or are now learning, there was a serious accident on Lake Rd in Avon Lake on May 15 in which a cyclist was hit essentially head-on by a car.  This cyclist sustained multiple serious injuries including a concussion, severe lacerations on her face, neck and torso, a fractured pelvis and collarbone, a broken patella, and severe bruising.  

She owes her life to a nurse who was the first on the scene and stopped the bleeding of her carotid artery while EMS was called.  She was then life-flighted to Metro and in critical care for several days.  

This cyclist was out for a ride to enjoy a beautiful North East Ohio spring afternoon along the lake. She was wearing her helmet and using the bicycle lane of Lake Rd in Avon Lake.  Patty is a 51 year old mom of 3 boys (age 26, 24 and 16), and lives in Bay Village.  

As one can imagine, her rehabilitation and recovery time will be significant.  She's an incredibly positive and strong person, but it is difficult to not become overwhelmed at the prospect of time away from work, ongoing expenses, and then the daunting medical bills that are just beginning.  

Funds will be used to pay ongoing bills as she is missing work during her recovery, medical expenses and to support her high school son during this incredibly traumatic and challenging time. 

Any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a difference to support this most difficult time of healing and rebuilding for this entire family.  

These are the times we all take a moment and pause to reflect on the preciousness of life, and how we cannot take our blessings for granted.
