Bay Area Medical Faceshield Emergency Production
We're working on producing Medical Face Shields for front-line medical people interacting with the Covid 19 crisis here in the Bay Area. Several local shops and individuals have developed products that are currently being reviewed and refined by medical personel, and we're hoping to begin production right away.
This gofundme is intended to offset the materials costs so that the shops, individual people, and medical personel doing the work aren't paying for it all out of pocket.
We have sets of prototypes at UCSF, at Kaiser, and Oakland Children's Hospital, we hope to expand the number of hospitals we're serving as well as the number of shields we produce.

We're working with several local production shops as well as numerous medical professionals to produce face shields for use by front-line medical personnel interacting with Covid 19. Right now, there's a serious shortage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and we're hearing of nurses literally making their own PPE out of office supplies on their days off.
We're a collection of local fabrication and prototyping shops who are happy to donate time and expertise to making sure that the people who are fighting this medical crisis on our behalf are protected.

Yesterday, we put prototype face-shields in the hands of nurses in a San Leandro ICU; we're getting the feedback that they're willing to pay out of pocket to have more of these prodced. I think we can do better than that. This model is about $4 per unit; we can make them in batches of 55. One sheet of plastic costs about $100, so for $100 you can put a face sheild in the hands of 25 health care workers.
