Hey there, I’m reaching out because my sweet French Bulldog, Baxter, is going through a really tough time right now. A few days ago, we found Baxter stuck outside under the shed, struggling to breathe heavily. We rushed him to the vet, where they immediately did some tests and found that his white blood cell levels were elevated, which pointed to a serious infection.
Since then, Baxter’s been receiving 24/7 care in the ICU. They’ve been giving him IV fluids, running tests, and providing meds to try and figure out exactly what’s going on. Unfortunately, during his stay, the doctors discovered that his liver is also deteriorating, likely as a side effect of the antibiotics he’s been on. It’s been a lot for him to handle. On top of all this, Baxter will need continued treatment, including follow-up care and medications to help his liver and recover fully.
The vet bills are piling up, and the financial strain has been tough, especially with our new baby at home, who’s now 4 months old. I’m on maternity leave right now, so keeping up with everything has been really challenging.
Here’s a breakdown of what Baxter has needed so far:
ICU Hospitalization
Intensive Care & Nurse Supervision
IV Fluids and Pump
Blood work (Chem25/CBC)
Injectable Medications
Blood Glucose Testing
Urine Culture and MIC
Medications for home care
Ongoing treatment and follow-up care
Baxter is so much more than just a pet—he’s family. He’s been with us through thick and thin, and it’s heartbreaking to see him go through this. We can’t imagine life without him. If you’re able to help out, even just by donating or sharing this page, it would mean the world to us. Every little bit makes a huge difference, and your support really helps us keep going.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any help you can give. We appreciate it more than words can say.
