Bau Miao Amici Mattinata è un’associazione di volontari che nasce con lo scopo di aiutare i nostri amici a 4 zampe, dando loro una famiglia e una vita dignitosa.
Nei due anni di attivita' sono stati addottati 210 cuccioli e cani e piu' di 130 cani sono stati sterilizzati.
Attività dell’associazione:
- Prevenzione del randagismo tramite sterilizzazione di cani a rischio di proliferazione incontrollata.
- Adozioni nazionali ed internazionali
- Sensibilizzazione dell’opinione pubblica ad un più corretto rapporto uomo-animale
- Collaborazione con le istituzioni e le altre associazioni
Ecco come verranno usati i fondi raccolti:
- Acquisto cibo umido in scatola e croccantini.
- Acquisto medicine per la cura sia dei cuccioli che dei grandi. Molti arrivano ammalati e feriti dopo essere stati abbandonati. Servono anche medicine post operatorie (dopo le sterilizzazioni)
- Acquisto di cucce per i cani per proteggerli durante il freddo d'inverno e il caldo d'estate.
- Acquisto di copertine per i cani per tenerli caldi e comodi.
- Acquisto di box in metallo con relativa copertura dove poter ospitare i cani i assoluta sicurezza per la loro cura e incolumità.
- Acquisto di giochi per cani da tenerli occupati durante il loro soggiorno e per educarli al gioco e ad essere piu' socievoli. Spesso i cani che arrivano non sanno giocare e interagire con le persone dato il loro passato di maltrattamento e abbandono.
- Acquisto trasportini per cuccioli e cani per i vari spostamenti necessari (andare dal veterinario, per esempio)
- Lettori microchip: utili quando i volontari trovano un cucciolo o cane abbandonato. Ci permette di capire da dove viene il cane se è stato chippato prima dell'abbandono.
Conclusione:
Siamo grati per qualsiasi aiuto vogliate dare cosi possiamo continuare a migliorare il loro lavoro con i nostri amici a quattro zampe! quegli animali meritano una vita migliore e loro fanno del loro meglio per dargliela.
Bau Miao Amici Mattinata is an association made up of volunteers whose goal is to help abandoned dogs in a small town in Puglia. They provide the puppies and dogs with shelter and care and find them the right families so that they can have the life they deserve.
In just two years, the volunteers have found homes for 210 puppies/dogs and over 130 puppies/dogs have been neutered/spayed.
Here is some of the work they do:
- Help prevent increasing numbers of stray dogs by neutering and spaying them to stop the cycle of abandonment. Most of the puppies have been found abandoned in the countryside and/or are anonymously abandoned at the shelter directly. One was recently dropped over the wall of one of the shelters (over 2 meters high) and nearly broke his legs.
- Arrange adoptions at a national and EU level.
- Work on changing the public perception of dogs in the area in order to improve the relationship between humans and dogs. This includes going to schools to teach children not to be afraid of dogs as many people are here, along with how to treat them as part of the family rather than hurting them (i.e. chaining them as "guard dogs" and/or never letting them in the house or giving them affection). Unfortunately animal abuse is still a common and accepted reality.
- Interview and visit homes of prospective owners to make sure that they can provide the right home for the puppies/dogs. They will only be adopted if the volunteer deems the family or owner suitable.
- Collaborate with other public institutions and other associations.
This wishlist is made up of different items, all vital in their own way, which will help us do the following:
- Dog food, both for puppies and adult dogs.
- Dog houses to protect them through cold, rainy winters and excruciatingly hot summers. This would improve their living situation a great deal, as the shelters are currently very basic. They are repurposed spaces with a lot of room for improvement. Just imagine how painful it is to walk barefoot in either of these conditions…
- Blankets for comfort and warmth
- Toys for the dogs: these are so important to keep them busy but also to teach them how to play with humans during their stay. The dogs who arrive at the shelters don't know how to play due to their history of abuse and/or abandonment in the wild.
- Kennels for transporting the puppies and dogs to and from locations. (To and from the shelter and to and from the veterinarian, for example)
- Microchip readers: these are incredibly useful when volunteers save a new puppy or dog. They allow us to find out where the dog came from if it was chipped before being abandoned.
- syringes to administer medication: these are always necessary as many puppies and adult dogs are victims of cruel and contagious diseases, often from their time in the wild after abandonment and/or abuse before being found. Antibiotics are also needed after operations such as neutering and spaying.
We are grateful for any help you want to give so we can keep improving their work with our four-legged friends! those animals deserve a better life and they do their best to give it to them.
