Unsere Hunde in Rumänien stehen vor dem AUS. Wir müssen dringend mit allen Hunden in ein neues Shelter umziehen und haben zuwenig finanzielle Mittel für Material und Baumaßnahmen.

Das Projekt „Flori & Friends Animal Hope“ ist ein Herzensprojekt, in dem sich Menschen mit großer Liebe für heimatlose rumänische Hunde zusammengefunden haben. Wir sind ein Verein in Gründung. Es geht uns um Nothilfe vor Ort. An erster Stelle setzen wir auf Kastrationen und medizinische Versorgung, sowie die Schaffung sicherer Unterbringung für Hunde, die im Leben bisher wenig oder keine Fürsorge erfahren durften.

Wir betreuen ein privates Hundeshelter in Galati, Rumänien, wo viele Hunde aus Tötungsstationen und in Not geratene Straßenhunde Zuflucht gefunden haben.  Florentina Irimia (Flori), die das Shelter leitet, ihr Mann und ihr Helfer Marius können ohne die finanzielle und organisatorische Unterstützung des Teams das Projekt nicht fortführen. Für einige Hunde bietet das Shelter ein „für immer“-Zuhause, denn sie sind nicht mehr vermittelbar und dürfen ihre letzten Monate in Sicherheit verbringen. Für andere Hunde bietet es das erste Mal eine richtige Mahlzeit, eine eigene Hütte und eine feste Bezugsperson.

Rund 230 Hunde, davon etwa 50 Welpen befinden sich derzeit in der Obhut von Flori. Jeden Monat sind die Kosten für die Hunde zu stemmen, davon allein 1500€ für Futter, 2.000 bis 4.000 € Tierarztkosten je nach Krankheitsfällen. Dazu kommen die Kosten für Pacht, Arbeiter, Impfungen, Kastrationen für Neueingänge, Zecken- und Flohschutz. Auch werden stabile Hütten, Stroh für den Winter und Sonnenschutz im Sommer benötigt. Und es fallen immer wieder unvorhergesehene Kosten an, wie kürzlich infolge eines Unwetters. Dank der unermüdlichen Hilfe der Paten und vieler Spenden konnten die Hunde bisher versorgt werden. Durch Corona ist das Spendenaufkommen nun deutlich gesunken. Einige Hunde konnten bereits vermittelt werden. Doch viele warten noch auf ein Zuhause.

Unser Shelter ist alt und zerfällt und wir müssen es auch dringend verlassen, da das Anwesen anderweitig benötigt wird. Ein Teil der Hunde, die kranken und alten, befinden sich im Haus von Flori... die aber lt. Polizei dort nicht bleiben dürfen, weil der Nachbar ständig Anzeige wegen Lärmbelästigung einbringt...

Wir haben uns auf die Suche gemacht und ein sehr gutes Anwesen gefunden, wo die rumänische Sheltermama Flori selbst wohnen kann und genug Platz für alle Hunde ist.  Vertrag für das Haus und das Grundstück ist unterzeichnet …. der Kaufbetrag für diesen besseren Ort, auch wenn teilweise nur geborgt und damit ein Kredit, der wieder zurückbezahlt werden muss, ist fürs erste zusammen.

Nun kommt die nächste große Herausforderung, der Bau des Shelters, mit einem ausbruchsicheren Zaun, mit Kennels die etwas großzügiger angelegt sind als bisher, Auslaufzonen, damit die Lebensqualität steigt... mit dem großen Herzenswunsch für eine Quarantäne- und Krankenstation…

Und dazu noch Zeitdruck, denn es droht ganz konkret die Beschlagnahmung der Hunde … wir sind verzweifelt.

Das Ziel ist erstmal mit 30.000€ als 1. Stufe angesetzt, was nicht reichen wird für so viele Hunde. Wir haben aber bereits mit dem Bau der Kennels begonnen, die ersten Rechnungen sind eingetrudelt und müssen bezahlt werden.

Update 24.01.21: Wie Ihr wisst, hatten wir es nicht geschafft, vor dem Winter in Foltesti mit dem Bau des neuen Shelters (für die 150 Hunde) – auf dem dafür vorgesehenen Areal (einem ehemaligen Weinberg) ausserhalb der Ortsgrenzen – zu beginnen.

Wir haben leider die für den Bau des grossen Shelters – ein ehrgeiziges Vorhaben - benötigte Summe von 50 - 60000 Euro nicht annähernd erreicht. Aber wir hatten bisher auch keine Baufirma gefunden, die sich auf diese Baumassnahme auf Kreditbasis oder gar auf eine Ratenzahlung einlässt. Es ist ohnehin schwer, qualifizierte Arbeitskräfte in Rumänien zu finden.

Wir haben uns ja für 2021 Glück gewünscht und …..Ganz kurzfristig meldete sich letzte Woche ein alter Freund bei Florentina, ein Bauingenieur, der eine kleine Baufirma in Rumänien besitzt. Dieser sah, wie unsere Hunde im alten Shelter im Schlamm versinken und er bot an, trotz der jetzt herrschenden winterlichen Temperaturen - sofort unser Shelter zu bauen. Damit die Hunde bald umziehen können, denn wir haben Angst, dass einige den Winter nicht lebend überstehen.

Floris Freund schaute sich das Grundstück in Foltesti an und ein qualifizierter Kostenvoranschlag für das Shelter liegt uns vor. Und das Bauvorhaben wurde auch vom Bürgermeisteramt in Foltesti genehmigt. Verglichen mit den uns bisher vorliegenden Angeboten – ist diese Firma günstiger, schneller und professioneller.

Die ersten Handwerker sind am 19. Jan 21 eingetroffen und seither laufen die Bauarbeiten - teilweise auch bei Minusgraden. Wir werden weiter über die Baufortschritte berichten.

Save the dogs at the Flori Shelter in Romania - Flori & Friends Animal Hope

Our dogs in Romania are on the brink of extinction. We urgently need to move with all dogs to a new shelter and have no financial means for material and building measures.

The project "Flori & Friends Animal Hope" is a heart project in which people with great love for homeless Romanian dogs. We are an association in foundation. We are concerned with emergency aid on the spot. In the first place we focus on castrations and medical care, as well as the creation of safe housing for dogs that have experienced little or no care in their lives.

We run a private dog shelter in Galati, Romania, where many dogs from killing stations and street dogs in need have found refuge.  Florentina Irimia (Flori), who runs the shelter, her husband and her helper Marius cannot continue the project without the financial and organizational support of the team. For some dogs the Shelter offers a "forever" home, because they are no longer employable and can spend their last months in safety. For other dogs it offers a proper meal, their own kennel and a permanent caregiver for the first time.

About 230 dogs, of which about 50 puppies are currently in the care of Flori. Every month the costs for the dogs have to be covered, 1500€ for food alone, 2.000 to 4.000€ veterinary costs depending on the cases of illness. In addition there are the costs for rent, workers, vaccinations, castrations for new arrivals, protection against ticks and fleas. Also needed are stable huts, straw for the winter and sun protection in the summer. And there are always unforeseen costs, such as recently as a result of a storm. Thanks to the tireless help of the sponsors and many donations, the dogs could be cared for so far. Thanks to Corona, the amount of donations has now decreased significantly. Some dogs could already be placed. But many are still waiting for a home.

Our shelter is old and decaying and we have to leave it urgently, because the property is needed elsewhere. A part of the dogs, the sick and old ones, are in the house of Flori... but according to the police they are not allowed to stay there because the neighbor is always complaining about noise pollution...

We went on a search and found a very good property where the Romanian shelter mum Flori can live herself and where there is enough space for all dogs.  Contract for the house and the property is signed .... the purchase amount for this better place, even if partly only borrowed and therefore a loan, which has to be paid back, is together for now.

Now comes the next big challenge, the construction of the shelter, with an escape-proof fence, with kennels which are a little more spacious than before, run-out areas, so that the quality of life increases... with the heart's desire for a quarantine and infirmary...

And on top of that time pressure, because there is a concrete threat of confiscation of the dogs ... we are desperate.

The target is set at 30.000€ as 1st step, which will not be enough for so many dogs. But we have already started with the construction of the kennels, the first bills have arrived and have to be paid.

Update 24.01.21: As you know, we had not managed to start building the new shelter (for the 150 dogs) in Foltesti before the winter – on the designated area (a former vineyard) outside the local borders.

Unfortunately, we have not come close to the sum of EUR 50 - 60000 needed for the construction of the great shelter – an ambitious project. But we hadn't found a construction company that would be involved in this construction measure on a loan basis or even an instalment payment. It is already difficult to find qualified workers in Romania.

We wished for luck for 2021 and ..... At short notice, an old friend contacted Florentina, a civil engineer who owns a small construction company in Romania, last week. He saw our dogs sinking into the mud in the old shelter and he offered to build our shelter immediately, despite the prevailing winter temperatures. So that the dogs can move soon, because we are afraid that some will not survive the winter alive.

Flori's friend looked at the property in Foltesti and we have a qualified estimate for the Shelter. And the construction project was also approved by the mayor's office in Foltesti. Compared to the offers available to us so far, this company is cheaper, faster and more professional.

The first craftsmen arrived on 19 Jan 21 and since then the construction work has been underway - sometimes even at minus degrees. We will continue to report on the progress of the construction.
