3 weeks ago my dad, Joe Lachnit, received the shocking news that he has Stage 4 prostate cancer. After a lot of research and advice from his doctors,  he and his wife Kelly have decided to travel to Reno, NV so he can receive integrative health treatment at The Forsythe Cancer Center.
As you can probably guess, cancer treatment is very expensive. While his insurance will cover most of the treatment center costs, there are still a  multitude of other expenses posing a financial challenge. Some of these expenses include:

1. Lodging for 3-4 weeks in Reno along with all other living expenses associated with being away from home.

2. Transportation in the form of plane tickets or gas to/from Reno.

3. Supplements, medications and other treatments not covered by insurance.

4. Loss of wages as he takes time to heal.

For the past several years my dad and his wife have made a choice to a live a life of generosity and service, trusting that God will provide if they are ever in need. If you are able, please consider donating what you can to ease the stress and lighten the load for him and Kelly as they navigate this challenging and vulnerable time. If you are not able to help financially, please consider saying a prayer, sharing his story, or offering  a word of encouragement. While this has been a difficult road in many ways my dad’s biggest obstacle has been accepting that he is worthy of the love, support and help from all those that care about him and even from strangers. My wish for him is that he will be so overwhelmed with support, there will be no denying just how special and worthy he is.
