Hi, my name is Rocco, I'm 7 years old and a proud pitbull, ambassador to my breed. I have to admit, despite discrimination to my breed, contrary to stereotypes and misconceptions, I am just a happy, lovable, friendly and pleasing dog. That is why my mommy rescued me, to open people's minds. I love adventures, going to the dog park, smelling everything, swimming, eating yummy foods, meeting new humans and doing my happy dances. Lately, it's been hard on my mom and dad because I have not been able to do what I love like before. One day, out of the blue I was playing really hard and running, I was so happy, but suddenly I collapsed, I wanted to get up but couldn't for a few seconds. My parents took me to the Doctor and found out I have heart cancer. The tumor is big and in the upper part of my heart, so I have extremely high pulmonary hypertension and due to this my risk of going under anesthesia and not waking up is very high. There's no way to find out exactly what type of cancer it is, it's too risky, but after going to a cardiologist and oncologists my parents have decided on a treatment for me, Stereotactic radiation and Palladia (at home chemotherapy). This is the best treatment for my situation and it is being done by really kind people at NC state Veterinary. I am a warrior, I came back to my parents despite odds after my first anesthesia for a cat scan. I am going back for 3 radiation treatments and need everyone's prayers to come back from them too.
I have never seen my mom and dad cry so much in my life, so I know since they found out about this, it's been so hard on them. I can sense their energies and that's when I step in and cuddle them for reassurance. I know inside me, my mom and dad love me like nothing else, I am their handsome and only son after all, and I know they will do everything in this world possible to fight this with me, to give me a chance at life and to have many more memories together. I have half my life to live, and we are fighting for this, not doing anything was not an option for us. I am everything to my parents, their love is so pure and enormous, we are best friends. They need me and I need them.
It would be pawsome to get your help on this fight. The radiation is expensive and we would be so grateful to any kind of donation ASAP.
The donation funds will go exclusively to my radiation and chemotherapy treatments, and everything related to my recovery.
