Battling Breast Cancer- Aly's Story

At the young age of 24,Aly found a lump in her breast. She was concerned and made an appointment with her doctor who told her to keep an eye on it and come back in 6 months. Within a few months of her initial appointment the lump had grown substantially and Aly knew something was wrong. She decided to schedule another visit with her doctor. After running some tests they confirmed her worst fear and diagnosed her with stage 2 breast cancer at age 25. Once Aly received her diagnosis she started an aggressive treatment process which included retrieving and freezing her eggs, chemotherapy, surgeries and soon she will be undergoing radiation with the possibility of more chemo as well. After further testing was done her doctors realized the cancer was more advanced and her diagnosis was unfortunately changed to stage 3. All of this happened within such a short time frame, leaving Aly feeling overwhelmed with emotions, worry and fear.

One thing Aly should not have to worry about right now is finances. Cancer treatment is expensive and insurance does not cover 100% of it. Insurance also does not cover the cost of freezing and storing her eggs so that she has the option of having children in the future. Aly is unable to work and in this crazy economy the price of gas, rent, groceries and other bills is growing more expensive each day.
