Greetings to all. I'm typically a private person. This is an extremely new road that I'm traveling. I've never ask for assistance in anyway. As an educator with over 30 years of experience; I've always been able to help students or others I encountered during my tenure in the classroom, But now I find myself in need of assistance and am trying to reach out to you in order to help me fight this cancer battle.  I've been fighting this cancer battle since late October of 2019, after going to my dr. for what I thought was a normal routine visit. During my visit, after a few minutes with my Dr. and answering a series of questions, my doctor noticed a few items of concern during our brief conversation. She immediately set me up for a Ctscn. Soon after I get prepped and am wheeled down to radiology for what I thought was another routine procedure. I was so tired after the scan, I literally fell asleep waiting to get wheeled back to my drs. office. After a few minutes & much to my surprise I woke up in the ER surrounded by an oncologist, neurologist and an ER Dr. All were glued to a monitor and were pointing and looking at me while commenting on what they were seeing. The ER Dr. gently approached me, hesitantly as if afraid to share what she and her colleagues have been looking at for the last few minutes. She ultimately found a way to get my attention and began to say the words no one expects to hear after a so called routine dr visit. She stated very matter of fact: "According to the ctscn Mr. Torres, there appears to be a mass in your right frontal lobe". It appears that a cancerous tumor in your brain is causing some of the concerns your dr noticed from your visit today. Is there anyone you can call so we can explain what is happening to you?" Filled with anxiety & emotions about what I had just heard, I first thought of my oldest daughter and my older brother. After hearing the surprising and devastating news, things started to move fast after my diagnosis. An MRI and an immediate biopsy offered more information about the type of cancer I have. According to the biopsy I have Cancer of the Central Nervous System/Non- Hodgkins lymphoma. An additional MRI did not detect the cancer on any other part of my body.  It's all concentrated in the right frontal lobe. Chemotherapy started soon after and has been working so far.  Upon finishing this most recent cycles I do find myself in need of help and financial assistance. This type of health care does come with a cost. And to add insult to injury, as my daughters were here helping out and running errands for me, my 2017 car blows an engine rod! Add another headache and upcoming 1k expense. I find myself in need of 5K, But am asking for $3K for this month. The ultimate goal is 5k but am hoping the generous public can help this month with $3K in order to help pay for the rest of my medical treatment my ultimate goal is 5K. Whatever you can help with I'll be grateful.
