Battledown centre for children and families spinny chairs
Donation protected
My beautiful little boy is disabled and attends Battledown school which caters for disabled children. At Christmas, a family friend gifted him a spinny chair for autistic children, it was a huge hit and we found it really helped him regulate his emotions (calm his brain down). When he went back to school in January, he insisted on taking it with him and the school called me immediately to ask for more info on the chair because it was a huge hit with the other children in his class and they could see a big difference in their behaviour after using the chair!
The school would love to purchase one chair per classroom but they’re quite expensive at £175 each.. and they didn’t have it in their budget to do this year!
So myself, Charlie, Lucia and Emma are braving a sky dive this summer which is booked for the 3rd august in Swansea, with hopes of raising the funds needed to purchase 8 spinny chairs for the school!
This is a huge cause which is so so personal and after seeing the affects myself I feel like every child that struggles with sensory issues and regulation would really needs to have a spinny chair in their life!
Please help us reach our target so we can purchase the chairs for the school and get them in time for summer !
**** UPDATE *****
Due to us reaching our target SO quickly, i asked the school if there was anything else they needed with the 'change' after we've purchased the chairs, and they've asked if we could contribute to having some canopies built in the play ground areas. Each classroom has a small section of segregated outside space for the children, to help them regulate in between classes, without them going out onto the large playground, However, in the winter it can be tricky to use with the adverse weather, and in the summer they can be sun traps for the heat, so it makes them outside spaces which can often go unused for lengthy amounts of time, A canopy attached to the building with the ability to be retracted etc when convenient could really transform the classroom space with this added feature of an accessible bit of area outside for the children to enjoy. So please do not deter from contributing to the pot as every penny counts to get this equipment and spaces transformed!
thank you
