Batik Art Project

Hi, my name is Kadiatu Kamara and I'm fundraising for a beautiful new initiative called The Batik Art Project, by Vivid Emporium.

Vivid Emporium is a luxury lifestyle brand that train, employ and represent West African artists in the USA and Europe. We design and manufacture handmade textile, garments, jewelry, leather bags and shoes, fine and visual art. We have an online gallery/store which displays our collections of paintings, masks, sculptures, jewelry and clothing. www.vividemporium.com

To help carry its corporate social responsibilities, Vivid Emporium LLC birthed its non profit organization, Vivid Emporium Initiatives which was registered in Sierra Leone, West Aftica. Through Vivid Emporium Initiatives we create and carry out programs designed to educate, elevate amd empower youth in and out of West Africa.

Our current project is The Batik Art Project. A project that trains underprivileged young women in and around Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone, to learn tailoring, batik making, tie dye and the tools needed to promote and market their skills to the world using social media and modern technology.

The Batik Art Project is a 8 months program that runs every Saturday and Sunday at Bureh, Sierra Leone. We have enrolled and started teaching 25 young women to the program. A successful outcome of this program would be to see all young women graduate and given grants and training necessary to start their own small businesses and the tools they would need to market their work.

In order for this project to be successful, we need support in providing materials needed for all practical training, schooling materials, used phones in good working conditions, used laptops in good working conditions, food for students and teachers, money to buy materials, provide electricity and other amenities needed to run the program every week, fabrics, paint etc.

We currently have a waiting list of over 40 students wanting to enrol. We have stopped accepting new students because we can only afford to take in so many. This is a free education program that is currently solely funded by myself. I have decided to extend the opportunity to make cha ge to everyone else. Please make a donation, no matter how small to The Batik Art Project and stay tuned to see updates of how things are going.
