What’s The Film About?
Mermaids, Elodie and Aurora, face revealing their identities to a house party of their friends. During a bath smoke-break, tensions rise between the two of them; Aurora catastrophizes worst case scenarios and Elodie internalises her extreme anxiety until eventually, their coming-out is taken out of their own hands.

Why Us, Why Now?
Bathwater is a lesbian love story that explores the anxiety inherent with coming out, othering and owning one’s allyship.

Why We Need Your Help?
Bathwater will film at the end of June/early July this year, featuring aspiring actors and filmmakers alike. By donating to Bathwater, you’ll be directly supporting independent filmmakers who are pouring their hearts into this project. No donation is too small; every bit gets us closer to making this film the best it can be. Your contribution will make a real difference.

Our budget will primarily go towards:
  • Production design, including costume, props, and set
  • Practical effects
  • Locations
  • Transport costs
  • Feeding our actors and crew during long shoot days

Directors Statement
Bathwater was birthed from my own coming-out anxieties, which were perfectly captured by Willow (the writer and my girlfriend) to form a comedic fantastical script that will resonate with anyone in the queer community. It explores my own gripes with “performative allyship” and highlights the extreme emotions one can go through whilst being in the “closet” which are so often over-looked. The bond between the protaoniosts, Elodie and Aurora was drawn from my relationship and therefore has authentic, queer voices at the heart of the story. I hope this film will encourage allies to not hide in the shadows, but make themselves known. Support your queer friends loudly and proudly.
