Help us avoid homelessness and secure a stable new home

Donation protected
Hi, we're two low-income t4t lesbian queers hoping to move out of an unstable housing situation and into our own space, where my girlfriend can freely work from home, make food in the kitchen, and even leave the house without worrying about facing hostility from our landlord, and we can both make progress on our mental health and continue transitioning in peace.

Currently, we live in a half-unfinished basement "apartment" without regular access to the upstairs kitchen. Despite being a fire hazard, we're forced to rely on a small space heater to warm just the bedroom, whereas the rest of the basement is freezing cold. The bathroom walls are unfinished, with multiple giant holes ripped out around the shower, which grows mold even after using bleach and I believe it is growing in the walls. We can hear the upstairs tenants through the floor at all times, especially when they have loud dinner guests, which is a huge trigger for my girlfriend's PTSD. My girlfriend also suffered the unexpected loss of her mother, her only supportive family member, just a few months ago, and is still grieving heavily.

It has recently been made clear that this arrangement, often intolerable as it is, cannot continue as we had once been told.

**We officially have until January 31st to be completely moved out.**

We intend to do this whether we have a new place secured or not, due to just how hostile and untenable the deteriorated relationship with our landlord is now. That is not a decision made lightly, and I am terrified to think we and our cat could end up living out of my 20-year-old sedan, but we are running out of time and we need to find a solution that gets us out of this apartment. Every day is more stressful than the last and every night brings us closer to homelessness as a reality.

I am ashamed that even though we both work we do not have the savings or budget right now to provide for ourselves with any sort of breathing room. And so we hugely appreciate any donations toward helping us out. Thank you so, so much for your support.

Our absolute stretch goal will be $6000 as this would completely cover a first month’s rent, security deposit, and broker fee for a new apartment. I am increasing our goal in increments of $500 as we reach it, to keep this fundraiser active.

February Update!!
We were able to relocate, moving to Massachusetts where we were able to actually find an apartment within our budget. We signed the lease with two other friends, and now live as an entirely trans household. We're still getting our footing, applying to jobs in the area and recovering from the moving expenses. Meeting the $2000 goal would go a looong way toward ensuring we have enough to cover our second month of rent and groceries in the meantime! Thank you so so so much for your generosity!!
