Update 24/12/2024

A very quick post / update

This is just a post to say a massive thank you to all the people out there that helped raised £2275 for the lady in Weston super mare.

As some of you were aware she was left in a right state with a cowboy builder . The work was shocking, dangerous, disgusting .

Between myself and Ant Millington we managed to turn it around before Xmas . It’s a different style layout but it’s what works for the customer and the most cost effect outcome .

Although it’s not fully finished , flooring and some skirting etc to go on, the lady has a fully functional bathroom.

It’s clean , safe , working and a damn better state than when we found it .

So a massive thank you to everyone that contributed to the go fund me page that raised enough funds to purchase all materials needed to complete this .

A big thank you to Steve Charlton ‘ the shower man ‘ would supplied and fitted a new shower free of charge . He’s just started his new venture so give his page a like and any shower or tap installations he is the man . Thank you Steve

A massive thank you to the Welsh legend ALL TILED UP who did the journey and came over from wales to put in a solid days graft for free . Lovely guy and his work is top quality , please give him a. Message or call for tiling needs , me personally I’m be using him again on some of my bathroom jobs coming up.

Another big thank you to Scott seldon plastering services from Taunton. Himself and one of his guys came for a long day and managed to plaster all the walls and ceiling free of charge and still managed to deliver a top quality finish .

Ant Millington , managed to organise this while I I project with myself as well as doing the electrics , painting and some general building work, without the partnership of ant on this we wouldn’t of got it done before Xmas

A big shout out to my engineers for Poseidon plumbing Ltd , and Olympus property services who along with our already busy Xmas schedule managed to fit this is in for free for a great cause . We managed to re-first fix the plumbing completely , install a new bathroom and a new bedroom radiator .

My awesome carpenter Dave from Olympus property services did all the studwork and even managed to come in on Xmas eve to get the door swung .

For everyone possible to share or like this post and to like the relative trades that have worked on the project would be a massive thank you .

Update 05/12/2024

So lots been going on behind the scenes

we have managed to get a team of trades behind us to help complete the job all who have agreed to donate their time to assist us for free

we have secured materials donated and prices at cost for the main materials that we need from local firms

We are starting on Monday 09/12 and aim to complete by Friday 20/12

Update 28/11/2024

So tonight myself and David Baxter attended the property in Weston Super Mare and shortly David will be posting some info about the job

However there is a live feed video on this page from me stood at the property in the bathroom well if you call it that

We have got a works schedule now and an idea of costs for materials to redo this whole bathroom correctly and safely and give this family the chance to rebuild their lives whilst the pregnancy runs to term etc

We have most trades covered but just need materials so any funds raised will go towards that cost

Update Weds 27/11/2024

over past 24 hours conversations have been going on to arrange a site visit between myself and the lady who originally posted

Another tradesman who lives locally has reached out to me and has agreed to accompany me on this site visit so we can both see what has happened and what needs to be done

Appointment has been agreed for this week between us all approx 1800-1900hrs arrival on Thursday after work

A full list of works needed and materials will

Be produced and uploaded along with several more pictures and a video so you will see what we see

More facts have been obtained and legal action will be taken in due course

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the group and seeking some understanding after what has happened to me.

I have read a post here from last December from an Anonymous commemter that most customers are "A**holes" and trades get stung for asking deposits, if customers provide materials its the customers responsibility etc.

So I am 7 months pregnant. 2 months ago I hired a person (answered to an advert on a well known and respected website and was a checked trader on that site). I needed a small bathroom extension- my bathroom didn't have a sink, only a tap on top of the toilet

He visited, offered a price for labour only. He asked for £1200 deposit. It was paid. He said the work will take 3 to 7 days. He said we complete payment at the end when he is finished.

3 days into the job he asked for £800 to pay his worker. It was paid.

He said he can bring the materials, it's better for is because he has a discount.

4 weeks has passed

He asked for £1200 because someone slashed his vans tires and otherwise he couldn't come. It was paid. I felt sorry for him. I only have a 16 years old car but I need it to get to work.

6 weeks passed at this point

He then asked for £700 and at that time there was a disagreement as the bathroom was nowhere near being done. He said some intimidating things so eventually it was paid.

He gained access to my property one day (through one of my family member), collected everything he could and left, never been able to reach him again.

Total paid: £3700 labour and £890 materials

The bathroom has no ceiling, no walls, the shower door fell on me, the waste pipe is sticking out etc... it is dirty, unsanitary. I have a small child, and have nowhere to put my soon be newborn. I have diabetes and other illnesses yet I am still working full time to keep us afloat. I gave him all the money I had.

So reading some of the posts here: am I not allowed to name this person?

I know now there is no point to sue him as he will just file bankruptcy even if I win.

I know I was probably naive, and I admit I was inexperienced- in my job, I only get paid if I turn up and complete the tasks what I am being given. I thought it is like this everywhere.

I have pictures, texts, receipts. I know he is a bad person, who takes advantage of vulnerable people especially with little money but what if he does this next to an elderly person?

Does it makes me a "Karen" for wanting to stop him ever work again?

Its getting cold, my little one and I have to share a bedroom because of this. I give birth in a month. I am in the worst situation in my life and all I wanted was a sink. Not even a fancy sink. Just a regular boring cheap one. Here I am 2+ months later without walls

Is it bad to name and shame this trades person?

I would appreciate some advise but fearing a backlash for this post, so for now I rather be Anonymous.

(I have reported him on the site, on Trading standards etc. Spoken to lawyers.)

what you see above is what I saw on Sunday 24th Nov at 11pm at night on a builders page

after encouraging the poster to make contact with myself I finally had contact with her later that night and we agreed to speak after work the following day

And oh my god what I saw and the state that she has been left in with a young daughter and heavily pregnant and due in Jan 2025, she was terrified of the back lash from the builder and getting anyone else in to rectify the works that have been so royally screwed up

Ive worked out how much work is required to put this right and this is with labour not costing anything

so please can we all help this lady out and let’s get this bathroom rebuilt in time for Christmas as I have the last two weeks before free so can book the whole job in there
