Bat Kat’s Funeral

Hannah Hendricks loved Batman, and she loved cats. She loved her big family, from her parents, through her eight brothers & sisters & their spouses, down to her 24 nieces and nephews. She loved theater, acting, making people laugh, and - most of all - serving people. She was determined, patient, and goal centered even after life threw her one curve ball after another.

 

When she was 16, Hannah Hendricks started having seizures. On October 28, 2021, the seizures became continuous, occurring every 3-5 minutes day and night, so Hannah went to the hospital. On Sunday morning, October 31, the seizures still hadn’t stopped and she became non-responsive. That morning she was intubated and sedated. Her team of specialists tried everything they could to help her throughout her three months in the ICU, two weeks in acute care, and two weeks at a care center. During that time the seizures shifted in type and intensity but did not stop, even while other health problems increased in variety and intensity. Hannah passed away peacefully on February 27, 2022.

 

Because of her epilepsy, Hannah has been uninsurable (for life insurance) for more than five years, since before she became an adult. She was medically insured, but there have been myriad costs associated with this challenge (travel was one; it was more than 90 miles round trip each day her parents, Harold and Naomi, went to the hospital to be with Hannah there, and they went most days). This Go Fund Me was created to provide a convenient way for those who want to contribute to funeral and other expenses to do so.

 

The Hendricks Family would like to thank those who have already contributed meals, time, financial support, and especially those who gifted a new microwave, delivered to them the day after their old one died! We know that many people would like to support them further; here are three ideas:

 

1) Collect digital copies of any videos, audio recordings, or photos you have of Hannah. You may also want to share other songs or stories or messages of love and support. Contact Karla Hendricks through this GoFundMe campaign to be added to the album where we are collecting these for her parents and family. Videos and photos can be added directly; Karla will assist in uploading audio recordings online and then generating a QR code to each recording, and the QR code will then be added to the album.

 

2) If you want to make a financial gift, you can visit Harold and Naomi and deliver it directly to them, or you can send it through venmo to @Naomi-Hendricks-2.
