On the 4th of April, 2019, Jess and Sean noticed some nasty bruises on Bastion. They took him to hospital to be checked out. After a bunch of tests and an aeroplane trip to the Monash Children’s, Bastion was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL).

Bastion has a rare form of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Chromosomes 8 & 14 have unique properties. It affects only 1-2% of t-cell patients WORLDWIDE. Basically this means the doctors don’t know a lot about it because there are not many cases of it. What they do know is that this kind of leukaemia is only present in males under the age of 5. So chemotherapy will continue with a new drug called nelarabine. This is a watch and wait scenario. They don’t know enough about the leukaemia to say what treatment is the best.

Bastion is one of four siblings. His parents, Sean and Jess, have been juggling Bastion with all his needs at Monash Children's hospital and trying to maintain a semi-normal life for his siblings. His older brothers are in school and kinder near Maffra; which is over two hours away from the hospital where Bastion has been staying for the last month.

This news came only 5 weeks after they welcomed Bastions younger sister Illythia Isabella in the world. As you could only imagine having a new born and a child with leukaemia would be exhausting. Trying to make sure all your children are happy whilst dealing with your own emotional well-being as a mother and father of four is a real tribute to Jess and Sean as parents. And they should be extremely proud of how well they are coping and providing the best care for all of their children.

The latest update for Bastion is that he will be at monash for at least another 8 weeks. Jess, Sean and all 3 of Bastion's siblings are having blood tests on Monday to prepare for a bone marrow transplant which will likely be require. They will know more after Mondays tests. Bastion leukaemia is quite aggressive and due to treatment he is finding it hard to walk and get around.

Please support this amazing family. So that Sean and Jess can take the time they need off work to make sure they are there for Bastion and his siblings. If you wish to donate; donate and request to follow Bastion's Trek Home so you can follow his progress:

We really wish all the best to Jess, Sean, Tyrion, Asher, Bastion and Illythia. We hope that Bastion beats all the odds against him. And I hope this gofundme page can help some of the financial burden this has put on your family.
