Basta! An Answer to Angels Medical Mystery

Hello everyone! Many of you that have been following Angel's journey throughout the years have been along first hand for the roller coaster ride of a Medical Mystery this has been. For anyone that is being introduced to Angel for the first time, I encourage you to follow the link below to her original GoFundMe where her symptoms are explained in finer detail and we are introduced to the power of crowdsourcing.
For nine years, Angel has been experiencing excruciating muscle pain that has forced her to be hospitalized over 30 times in that span. Someone who was a three sport athlete in high school was forced over the years to reduce her daily activity to what at times seemed like not moving. During these hospital trips, her body is sent into episodes of Rhabdomyolysis with Creatine Kinase levels reaching as high as 72,000 (which is 3000x higher than the average person). She experiences pain and has elevated CK levels on a daily basis but is hospitalized 3-4 times a year when her pain becomes unbearable.
Fast forward many of years through frustrating doctor visits, hours upon hours in hospital beds, and what seems like a million "I don't know" answers and we end up here in 2019. A year that was full of unimaginable surprises from some of the greatest people we have ever met in our lives, doctors that should be superstars because of their efforts, and a support system that seems to span the globe. All these awesome efforts have led to what was once thought to be nonexistent...
A Diagnosis!!!!
Angel was Diagnosed with Carnitine PalmitoylTransferase Type 2, CPT2 for short. It is a metabolic disorder that stops her body from being able to process long chain fatty acid. This Diagnosis has helped and will continue to help Angel get better treatment at hospitals, locate specialists that can help with diet and routine changes, as well as seek out other people around the world that could be dealing with this same Diagnosis.
Unfortunately, as great as it was to receive a Diagnosis, there are still a lot of things that have been holding Angel back from receiving the medical care she needs to truly get a grip on managing what has affected what seems to be every aspect of her life. Medical bills from past and recent hospital stays are delivered what seems to be monthly, hearing from family members that someone is serving her another lawsuit has become a common call, and the denials for insurance to cover future appointments because of outstanding bills is no longer a surprise.
With the goal amount we (which is everyone that has been involved in this no matter how big or small your role) hope to open the doorway to the next step of this journey for Angel.
I understand this is a large amount of money to request from people but no matter how hard she tries Angel can't do this alone, it seems that there are two things trying to drag her down for every one piece of great news she receives. As we've seen before, the power of crowd sourcing through caring and dedicated people has changed someone's life significantly and we can only hope it doesn't stop here.
Although this amount will not leave her debt free, the quarter or so of her debt that this will erase will give her a chance to seek treatment from physicians that are covered by her insurance and will hopefully allow the insurance companies to bypass some of her previous bills that they have been holding over her head for so long. We want filing for bankruptcy to be our last option and within these last couple months, it has been proven that just about anything is possible. Angel wants to close this chapter of her life and move on completely without the struggle of medical debt.
