Dear friends, family and supporters,
Our group has come together to organise a fundraiser in support of our dear friend Michelle, who is bravely fighting cancer for the second time. Michelle was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, and after enduring surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, she faced the unimaginable news that the cancer has now spread throughout her body. Today, she is courageously battling stage 4 incurable cancer.
The charities
To honour Michelle's strength and spirit, we are organising a fundraiser to support two charities that are very close to her heart:
Breast Cancer Now - https://breastcancernow.org/
Little Princess Trust - https://www.littleprincesses.org.uk
Breast Cancer Now:
A vital research and support charity dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
Did you know? Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, around 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.
As Michelle is battling incurable cancer, it is crucial to continuously help fund life changing research to develop new advance treatments in order to improve survival rates.
Little Princess Trust:
An organisation that provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.
The Little Princess Trust relies solely on the generosity of it's wonderful supporters who help the charity give hair and hope to so many children and young people with cancer each year.
Michelle's journey has been one of resilience and compassion. After losing her own hair during her initial cancer treatment in 2019, she made it her mission to grow her hair long enough to donate to the Little Princess Trust. We are proud to share that she has grown an incredible 12 inches! While some may see hair loss as a minor concern compared to a cancer diagnosis, for Michelle, it was a profound emotional struggle. Losing her hair felt like losing a part of her identity, and each day without it served as a reminder of the challenges she faced.
In her own journey, Michelle has chosen to give back. She believes that no little girl or boy should have to experience the same loss she felt. By donating her hair, she hopes to bring a smile and a sense of normality to children facing such difficult times.
The Challenge/Fundraising events:
Our group is excited to participate in several fundraising activities throughout October in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
27th October: we'll be embarking on a challenging 33-mile walk along the Basingstoke Canal, starting at Up Nately in Basingstoke and finishing in Byfleet. We'd love for you to join us or cheer us on along the route! Please get in touch for further details.
18th October: Amy and her team at Hair 100 Salon in Farnborough are organising a bake sale for 'Wear it Pink'.
Completed: Kelly from Perfectly You auctioned off a full set of classic lashes or infills raising £75 to the fundraising efforts.
Join us in making a difference!
Michelle has shown us all what it means to fight with grace and courage. Let's come together to show Michelle how much she is loved and supported by all.
Whether you walk with us, attend our bake sale or support us through your generous donations, every contribution will help us make a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by breast cancer, and bring joy to children in need.
Thank you for your support, love and compassion. Together, we can make a difference!
