Basil's gender affirming care fundraiser

Hello, my name's Eoin. You might also know me as Basil Thrust, a local drag king in Nottingham!

A bit about me...

I first started to realize that i was trans masc around 2020 during the pandemic. I had a lot of time to think during a time when there was no expectation for me to present myself in a certain way due to everyone being in lockdown. Since then i spent the next 3 years exploring my gender identity.

Since socially transitioning, my confidence has grown considerably. I used to be so shy, nervous and introverted. And now, friends who have known me for the past decade or more can attest that I've completely changed for the positive. Everyday i grow more confident and achieve new things i'd never think i'd be able to do, like get on a stage and perform drag for instance!

I am currently waiting for my first appointment with the Nottingham gender identity clinic. I've been on the waiting list since April 2024 and i expect i still have at least half a year before i can expect to be contacted for my first initial consultation.

Although in relative, compared to gender identity clinics across the uk, the Nottingham GIC waitlist is quite short, i expect i won't receive a follow up appointment where i'll start medically transitioning until 2027 at the earliest.

For that reason i am fundraising the funds to get a private diagnosis of gender dysphoria via GenderCareUK to speed up the time i'll have to wait before i can medically transition.

As many of you know, i am in my mid thirties now and I'm keen to start medically transitioning as soon as possible so i can experience as much of my younger years as authentically myself as i can.

I'd also like to start the process of getting consultations to talk about freezing (and possibly donating some of) my eggs in case i later decide i'd like to have children. I'd like to do that before i reach 40.
