I’m sure you have heard by now that Basilio had to have open heart surgery but let me fill you in a little on what happened.

On 9/8 Basilio went to the dr with some chest pain, the dr decided to send him to the hospital to have a stent placed right away. During that procedure the Dr discovered there was a bigger problem than he identified in his office. He stopped the procedure without placing any stents. Basilio was admitted to a room and told that he would be having open heart surgery on the 9th.

On 9/9 the Dr did a 5-vessel Coronary Artery Bypass Graft which is called a CABG (cabbage). A 5-vessel CABG is a surgical procedure that involves bypassing five blocked arteries in the heart. These arteries, known as coronary arteries, supply blood to the heart muscle.

Before the surgery the dr expected Basilio to be home in 3-5 days. Unfortunately the procedure was just a little harder on Basilio’s body than we all hoped for and the after plans have changed a bit.

Today 9/17 the drs plan for Basilio is to send him to a rehabilitation facility so that he can get strong enough to go home and return to his normal activities.

This is where you come in, Basilio’s family needs our help. There is an immediate need for help with bills, Basilio is the breadwinner in his family, if you know anything about him you know he works hard to take care of his family, but right now he cannot do that so it is our turn to help. The second need is for a concrete ramp to make accessing his home easier when he does get to go home. The request for funds here will cover the ramp and the immediate bills until Basilio’s work benefits kick in to help offset the financial struggle of a hospital/rehab stay.
