BÁSICO2: A Carbon Capture Initiative

 

 

Hi we're BÁSICO!

 

We are a student-led research group at the University of Miami developing and testing carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technology. Based in Miami, FL we are at the forefront of climate change, and therefore best equipped to fight it. We are helping to develop a method that would harness the power of the ocean to capture and permanently store carbon. In doing so, we would 1) remove CO2 from the air and ocean, 2) fight ocean acidification, and 3) protect corals and other marine life. Our research will ensure the safety of this solution and prove its benefits in the environment. 

Saving the ocean is expensive work. We need resources to do thorough environmental assessments and to eventually launch the solution and actually start capturing carbon. If you have ever doubted whether your environmental actions actually make a difference, donating to our team surely will!
