Mahaboob Basha is a great son, loving husband, caring brother, supportive father and a very good friend. Like many of us, his dream is to give the best life for his family and watch his two wonderful kids grow. We know life doesn’t always go as planned, but sometimes it’s unfortunate that you have to leave what you are doing and just fight for life.

Basha is 41 years old, from India, a Mechanical Engineer by profession working in Saudi Arabia and the only breadwinner for the family. He is loved by his parents, wife, son (8 years old) and daughter (6 years old). He was diagnosed with stomach cancer stage III in Jan 2022 and had to leave Saudi Arabia and return to India for the long medical treatment process and family support. He has undergone surgery removing his stomach (Gastrectomy) and some of the lymph nodes, followed by multiple cycles of chemotherapy. This whole process took around six months for hospitalization, chemotherapy visits, recovery and getting adjusted to the new dietary lifestyle. He showed his usual positive attitude and strong will to fight it. Everything went well until early this year.

Around Feb 2023, he started to see new symptoms like nausea and vomiting. On further checkup, he was devastated to find that he had a relapse and it is so aggressive. The current prognosis is not so good, but his family and doctors are trying hard to extend his life as much as possible. To this day he didn’t lose hope and wants to live and is fighting for it.

Coming from a remote village in India and a lower-middle-class family, Basha struggled in his life and worked hard to get a good job in Saudi Arabia. He never left his siblings and parents behind and did everything possible to give them a good life as well. He is a true hero and inspiration for his nieces and nephews, supporting and encouraging them in their life and education. He is a well-wisher many of us. It’s very rare to find a person so joyful and content.
