We have reached our minimum $12,000 goal to bring another incredibly talented camera operator/photographer to Yucatán with us, Zach Fiedler. Zach is Cullen's fraternity Big Brother, and a brilliant photographer and cinematographer. Baseball Without Borders Foundation brings joy to children throughout the world through a love of America’s favorite pastime. They provide new and used baseball equipment to children of all ages and they donate all equipment free of charge. Donations have been made to children in 52 countries since 1995. Baseball Without Borders has no paid staff. 100% of donated funds help to promote friendship, recipients' native cultures and connection with the less fortunate of our world. This is the first film capturing Baseball Without Borders' philanthropic contributions overseas, and the first funded film in Baseball Without Borders history. This short film will focus on bringing awareness to the culture and children of Yucatán, while giving viewers a sense of the impact that Baseball Without Borders has been creating for more than 28 years as it carries out its mission to weave joy through the world by offering the gift of baseball. The children of the small towns in Yucatán live a life full of community, faith, and perseverance. Their passion for baseball is incredible, they are just unable to play due to scarce access to equipment. Baseball Without Borders has changed the lives of hundreds in Yucatán with their equipment drives over the last two decades. By donating to this film you are funding expenses including production and post-production costs, travel, baggage fees to bring dozens of bags of baseball equipment, and food and lodging in the Yucatán. All donations that exceed our goals of production will go directly back to Baseball Without Borders to continue fulfilling their mission across the world, and for future projects. Director Cullen Blanchfield has known Baseball Without Borders President Juan Bustos since 2015. Cullen worked closely with the organization throughout high school as a volunteer, leading multiple equipment drives with his JV and Varsity baseball teams. Cullen and Juan have spoken about the prospect of creating a film together about the impact of Baseball Without Borders for eight years. Cullen has had the pleasure of creating multiple short documentaries in his early career, seeing success in film festival circuits, winning Grand Prize and Social Justice awards at the International Impact Film Festival, as well as multiple acceptances and honorable mentions in film festivals around the world. Cullen earned a BFA Film Production degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He runs a production company called CJB Productions and has worked full-time alongside internationally acclaimed photographer and director Stewart Cohen for the past 2 years. Cullen brings a plethora of skills and experience to a production. This film is set to begin production in August 2023.
