This month I will depart for my first ever mission trip. The location...Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

10 months ago I felt a tugging on my heart to "go". Go where exactly I did not know. I just knew I needed to go. The organization Adventures in Mission (AIM) was mentioned to me in 3 separate conversations during this time and I knew I had my answer.

But in typical Adwoa fashion I waited because I was scared. Five months later I finally submitted my application to travel to Puerto Rico. It seemed like the perfect fit and I was able to fundraise enough money in under 3 weeks to cover the cost of the trip and the flight to PR! Praise God right! But the trip to PR fell through due to lack of participation.

And this is the conversation I had with God: "Lord, you are going to build my faith one way or another aren't you? Whether I'm ready for it or not".

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

On July 18th I will depart for Rio on a 9 day journey with 10 strangers who have pledged, as I have, to serve others and God to the best of their ability.

We plan to: work with elderly and youth, perform general repairs, garden, minster to the homeless, assist with hospital chaplaincy, and pray.

Realistically though, what we're going to do is whatever needs to be done. I find myself excited and terrified at the the same time. The World Cup will be over, but the stadiums will still be there. The Olympics are on their way, but the starving children will still be hungry. And the human traffickers will still be turning a profit.

Your donation today will go towards the cost of my airfare and expenses while on the ground. Anything above and beyond will be donated to the Brazilian organization that AIM has partnered with in Rio.
