Help Bart beat Blood Cancer AGAIN!!
Let’s help Steve Bartlebaugh fight Cancer AGAIN!!
In September 2019, Steve was diagnosed with Burkett Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer only occurring in less than 2 % of the world’s adult population. He was 47 at that time. His treatments had to be very aggressive in order for him to survive. Steve and his wife, Shannon, had to drive hours for chemotherapy and other lifesaving cancer treatments from their remote hometown of Bradford, Pa, to the Cancer Treatment Center in Pittsburgh and to see doctors in Erie due to the very limited local medical facilities. Pittsburgh is a 3 ½ hour, and Erie is a 1 ½ hour drive each way. While Steve spent weeks in Pittsburgh, and made numerous trips back and forth for treatments, Shannon, as the sole provider, also drove to Pittsburgh and Erie, and continued to work. With, prayers, the treatments worked and he entered remission in 2020. Steve’s family and friends were ecstatic. Steve is a caring, hardworking, devoted, loving, husband, father, uncle, son, and a friend to everyone he meets.
After raising their son, Zach, to be a hard-working and honest man with a heart of gold, Steve and Shannon took custody of a 4 year old niece and 4 month old nephew during the summer of 2020. They love these two babies, and care for them and treat them as their own.
Unfortunately, last month, July 2021, Steve was diagnosed with Leukemia. Again, Steve has to drive to Pittsburgh and to Erie numerous times a week for life-sustaining chemotherapy and platelet and blood transfusions. These treatments, along with his will and his faith are the only things keeping him alive so that he can receive a bone marrow transplant. When first diagnosed in July, the doctors told him he would need 5 months of chemotherapy treatment before a bone marrow transplant would be administered. His condition has quickly deteriorated, and now the transplant has been moved forward and is a top priority.
Steve is a very proud man. He will not ask, but Steve needs our help. We pray for treatments for his cancer. The costs are astronomical. He should not have all the financial worries on top of trying to fight this horrible disease. He cannot work; their savings have been long depleted from this fight. We can, however, absolutely do something to help pay the bills, keep the family together and in their home, help with the childcare expenses, medical travel expenses, and most importantly, fund additional treatments.
First, we need prayer warriors for a second miracle of remission. Secondly, we ask everyone to share his story, and finally, if possible, contribute what you can for his treatments and expenses. Every dollar will be spent for Steve and his family to survive and remain together.
Steve has a strong will to survive and, at 49 with two babies to raise, he has a lot of determination to beat this horrible disease AGAIN, but it won’t be easy! Anything you can do to help is GREATLY appreciated!
