Bart Bart’s Cancer Treatment

Hey friends and family, many of you know Bart, the cat my partner Eric and I adore like our only child. He’s one of the sweetest cats in the world and has so much love for everyone he meets! We just moved to Pittsburgh a few months ago and got him set up with a new vet and during his routine checkup with the new cardiologist they discovered a suspicious growth in his lungs. He unfortunately has lung cancer and is going to need a portion of his lung removed before the cancer grows and spreads.

We’re so thankful that we caught the cancer early enough so that it’s treatable. The vet believes this is a primary tumor that has not metastasized from elsewhere, which improves his chances of survival. As long as we can get this tumor out and there’s no further complications, we can probably have many more years with our Bart Bart.

Unfortunately the medical costs are still very high and it’s going to be a challenge for us to cover, but we want to do everything we can to save him. Our estimate for his upcoming surgery and preliminary CT scan is $7,770-$9,162 and that doesn’t include what we’ve already spent at the cardiologist. Our insurance has a maximum reimbursement of $2,500 so we’re looking into financing options to try to pay this off. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards Bart’s medical bills.

The less medical debt we’re in the better, so if anyone can spare a few dollars to help we’d be so grateful. Bart is still so happy and active and we don’t think he even knows he’s sick right now. He’s much more worried about us being upset than he is about himself right now!
