Our dad was a beloved community member, a local legend, and the voice of sports in the area for nearly 34 years; calling games and matches anywhere and everywhere he was needed. If there was a game of importance, chances are, he was calling it. His passion for youth athletics was unrivaled and will undoubtedly be missed by the local communities he tirelessly served.
In the wake of our dad’s passing, we’ve received an outpouring of love and support from people near and far whose lives he has touched. We take so much comfort in knowing that he lives in the hearts and memories of so many people. It’s absolutely beautiful, incredible, and truthfully overwhelming as we have begun to scratch the surface of his reach.
We have been asked by several people if we would be starting a scholarship or fund in his name and how they can contribute. If we are being completely honest, his passing happened so quickly, we really hadn’t had time to consider or prepare something of that magnitude in advance.
We are setting up this Go Fund Me to help lay the foundation for a sports fund in his name. This will be an undertaking and we are in the early stages of putting together a team to help us navigate this process, to guarantee that it is as successful as possible. We haven’t worked out all of the specifics as to what exactly this fund will look like just yet, but we love the idea of being able to give back to youth sports, local teams, and athletes, in his name. We know that there is nothing he would love more than that. We are kicking around some great ideas to bring the community together in his name to get this scholarship up and running. Stay tuned for updates as we get it all pieced together.
We understand that this is probably a lofty goal, but our dad dreamt big and always swung for the fence, so we are following his lead here.
