Hi friends of Barry,

This may feel like a deja vu to those of you who responded to a similar campaign three years ago...I truly wish that it were...

Barry has been diagnosed with his third and fourth (two tumors this time),  colon cancers.

Tomorrow he will go to UCLA for surgery to remove what remains of his colon.

As you may recall,  Barry was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2006 and endured FOUR YEARS OF CHEMO--the original cancer  progressed to stage 4 liver cancer.

In 2017 a routine screening revealed a new cancer--more surgery, more chemo  (cut short due to his liver beginning to fail mid-treatment).

And now, this latest diagnosis....

All this sounds like a very sad story, and yet for those of us fortunate enough to have him in our lives, we know that Barry lives every day with so much love and gratitude, so much joy and appreciation that he is truly a lucky man and we who love him and know him are even luckier.

I write this latest appeal because even though he has medicare--
which will  cover the lion's share of his medical bills--Barry is a "contract worker," (despite logging some sixty-hour weeks), so does not get paid if he is unable to work (the surgeon estimates a five week recovery).

I realize that many people are struggling financially now and that so many of you gave generously the last campaign--so very grateful to you!  I hope to raise funds so that he doesn't need to stress about bills and can focus of his recovery but, if what you are able to send are love and words of encouragement, that positivity is a much needed contribution as well.

Please keep Barry in your thoughts.  I will send updates as soon as they are available.
