My name is Heather Drury and most of you know my husband Barry Drury. What started out as thinking it was covid making him so sick turn in a whole other direction. He had a small bump come up on his left butt cheek. He thought it would pop and go away. A week passed and it grew and then at that point it had not popped. The spot became huge overnight and we went to urgent care to get him checked out because he had become extremely ill amd the spot was very painful. The dr at urgent care told him to rush to the ER immediately he was too sick. We rushed to the ER and what we thought would be iv fluids and antibiotics turned into a nightmare. The dr began to examine him and discovered many things. His kidneys were shutting down, the infection had spread rapidly, and he was septic. They rushed him back to perform 1 of many emergency surgeries. The infection was so bad a large part of his backside has been cut open and removed. He's currently had 3 surgeries and has a few more to go. His insurance is covering some of the medical expenses but he has a long way to go. He will require full care for some time. He is unable to work as am I at the moment. He is denied temporary disability and his insurance doesn't cover critical illness pay either. He will have to have a temporary colostomy bag put into place which means more surgery is in his future. If you feel it in your heart to donate anything will help. As I said neither can work at the moment, we will have many expenses along the way and unsure when either will be able to return to work.
