Barricks battle continues
Donation protected
8 months ago, at only 28 years old, Barrick was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer, specifically Hodgkins Lymphoma. Never having smoked a day in his life, or having any history of it in the family, this came as a horrific shock. He underwent 6 months of Chemotherapy and was told he was in full remission during one of the later check ins with their wonderful Haematologist.
Devastatingly, they were told last Monday that the cancer has now spread. In addition to this, a portion of the mass in his chest still remains active and requires a more intense form of Chemotherapy and STEM Cell transplants. This means significant hospital stays and time off work for him for the foreseeable future.
His partner Megan young is doing her best to manage teaching full time, and caring for Baz both in hospital and at home, whilst being the sole income earner to financially support them both. With Baz’s family all living interstate and overseas, this is an incredibly challenging time for them both as they navigate this new reality.
Anything you can do to help megan and baz is appreciated more than they can say. It takes a village, and they are incredibly grateful for theirs.
