Barnabas Legacy Children's Dream Foundation (BLCDF) Agape Star Christian School

The Barnabas Legacy Children's Dream Foundation (BLCDF) is a legally registered Ugandan Not for Profit Organisation.

BLCDF is a Christian Child Care Ministry that looks after vulnerable, orphaned, and needy children in Katunda Village (and also some of the surrounding villages), Jinja, Kampala, Uganda.

The Foundation was founded in 2013 by Pastor Steven Wamala and a team from Katunda Pentecostal AOG, Buikwe District, located in Katunda Village.

In 2019 BLCDF was joined by supporting partner Maree Cutler Naroba (Australia), Founder & Director of the Deborah Business Education Hub and a range of other projects, to further the work of the Foundation. https://deborahbizedhub.com/leadership/

In 2020 BLCDF was joined by supporting partner Sue Beadle Counselling Founder, Sue Beadle (New Zealand) to continue to strengthen the work of the Foundation. https://www.facebook.com/suebeadlecounselling/services.

The Foundation also has as a supporting partner Market Me Marketing Founder, Nic Jones (Australia) who manages the Foundation's website and oversees marketing activities.

Maree, Sue and Nic serve on the BLCDF Board, with Maree currently as the Board Chair.

The purpose of BLCDF is to share Christ with the children, and while in the Foundation’s care, to mould them into biblically and academically educated members of our future society and to champion them in the dream God has put in their hearts.

The ONE who created the STARS, who calls them all by NAME (Isaiah 40:26); so too the children of BLCDF, the Lord knows each by name. Every child is so precious in the sight of the Lord. Every child is created by the Father with a DREAM in their heart. Every child is a ‘STAR’ in the eyes of the Lord.

BLCDF’s Leadership Team are passionate Child Protection Advocates who seek to champion Children’s Rights. Along with caring for the children, they are also involved in running community workshops for parents and carers, education campaigns (for example ‘Ending Child Violence’), and other advocacy work.

Most of the children under BLCDF’s care have been discarded, abused, unwanted, or orphaned, although some have simply come out of a situation where a parent just needed help. The Foundation’s Fund seeks to support as many of these children as possible and has a number of Projects to which Supporters can choose to donate to.

A child’s academic development is absolutely important. Education is key to unlocking the potential of each of the children. One of the greatest needs of the Foundation is to support the educational development of the children financially. Hence our desire to build our own community school. The school land was purchased in 2021.

The school is called AGAPE STAR Christian School.

The logo represents the unfailing love of God (the circle) encircling the children (children represented by the star)

This goes with the Foundation's vision, Isaiah 40:26.

Every child is a ‘STAR’ in the eyes of the Lord.

The school's scripture is Psalm 143:8 'Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life'.

There are three school terms in the Ugandan academic year. The cost for each child for school fees and scholastic materials is $250US per year. We seek donor support for annual scholarships to cover the student fees.

The purpose of this GO FUND ME campaign is to raise $50,000US to help continue the building of the school and to pay for annual operation costs.

  • The land was purchased in 2021
  • Phase 1A completed: the build of the 8 rooms + toilet block (August 2022)
  • Phase 1B – November and December 2022 (plastering, classroom furniture, blackboards, flooring)
  • Phase 2 will be 2024/2025 to add some dorms and then also the Upper Primary levels and Secondary school

The Kindergarten and Primary campus has capacity for 300 students. As at Term 1, 2024 there are 200 registered students.

The school opened for its first registered students on 6th February 2023.

When the full school is complete it will have secondary school classes and a vocational training unit, plus boarding facilities.
