Barnabas Legacy Children's Dream Foundation (BLCDF) AGAPE STAR Christian School
The Barnabas Legacy Children's Dream Foundation (BLCDF) is a legally registered Ugandan Not for Profit Organisation.
BLCDF is a Christian Child Care Ministry that looks after 250+ vulnerable, orphaned, and needy children in Katunda Village, Jinja, Kampala, Uganda.
The Foundation was founded in 2013 by Pastor Steven Wamala and a team from Katunda Pentecostal AOG, Buikwe District, located in Katunda Village. In 2019 BLCDF was joined by supporting partner Women Echo Him Collective's Founder, Maree Cutler-Naroba (Australia) to further the work of the Foundation. https://wehcollective.com/.
In 2020 BLCDF was joined by supporting partner Sue Beadle Counselling Founder, Sue Beadle (New Zealand) to continue to strengthen the work of the Foundation. https://www.facebook.com/suebeadlecounselling/services.
Maree and Sue serve on the BLCDF Board, with Maree currently as the Board Chair.
The Foundation also has as a supporting partner Market Me Marketing Founder, Nic Jone (Australia) who manages the Foundation's website.
The purpose of BLCDF is to share Christ with the children, and while in the Foundation’s care, to mould them into biblically and academically educated members of our future society and to champion them in the dream God has put in their hearts.
The ONE who created the STARS, who calls them all by NAME (Isaiah 40:26); so too the children of BLCDF, the Lord knows each by name. Every child is so precious in the sight of the Lord. Every child is created by the Father with a DREAM in their heart. Every child is a ‘STAR’ in the eyes of the Lord.
BLCDF’s Leadership Team are passionate Child Protection Advocates who seek to champion Children’s Rights. Along with caring for the children, they are also involved in running community workshops for parents and carers, education campaigns (for example ‘Ending Child Violence’), and other advocacy work.
Most of the children under BLCDF’s care have been discarded, abused, unwanted, or orphaned, although some have simply come out of a situation where a parent just needed help. The Foundation’s Fund seeks to support as many of these children as possible and has a number of Projects to which Supporters can choose to donate to.
A child’s academic development is absolutely important. Education is key to unlocking the potential of each of the children. One of the greatest needs of the Foundation is to support the educational development of the children financially. Hence our desire to build our own community school. We have purchased the block of land and our seeking donors to support the building of the campus.
The school is called AGAPE STAR Christian School.
The logo represents the unfailing love of God (the circle) encircling the children (children represented by the star)
This goes with the Foundation's vision, Isaiah 40:26.
Every child is a ‘STAR’ in the eyes of the Lord.
The school's scripture is Psalm 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.
There are three school terms in the Ugandan academic year. The cost for each child for school fees and scholastic materials is $250US per year.
In 2020 and 2021 the schools were closed due to COVID19 restriction measures. During this time, the children received some educational packs and had some tutoring given to them by those involved on the ground with BLCDF; which was a huge but worthwhile undertaking. In 2022 the schools are open and some of the children have now returned to school
The purpose of this GO FUND ME campaign is to raise $75000US to build the Agape Star Christian School which can be opened God-willing at the beginning of the 2023 Uganda school year. We received a donation for of $25000US, which leaves $50000US to be raised. Phase 1 of the campus build is underway.
