Barn Collapse Recovery for Green Meadow Farm
Some sad news for Green Meadow Farm. They had the horror of their cattle barn collapsing while the animals were inside. The destruction of the physical building was in itself devastating. The pigs, donkey, chickens and most of the cows made it to safety, there were 4 that did not escape. As most people know, dealing with insurance companies is challenging and takes a lot of time. Farm life is daily with the care of the animals and can't wait for when or IF the insurance comes through to replace all the items destroyed, help close in the other barn to make it a temporary home for the animals or pay the crews needed to clear out the destruction.
Skip and Karen are amazing people who have been a part of the Union, Maine community since they purchased an old dairy farm in 2019. They have worked hard at establishing Green Meadow Farm, put their hearts and souls into it. From their website: "Green Meadow Farm is situated on 180 acres in Union, Maine. After searching for the perfect farm for nearly two years, we purchased this former dairy farm in August 2019. Our pastures and hay fields are classified as Prime Farmland by the USDA. These soils grow nutritious grasses to support our 100% grass-fed & grass-finished beef and our non-GMO pastured poultry and pastured pork. Pasturing animals is part of our sustainable, humane farming beliefs."
Money raised will go toward replacing any equipment, tools, farm implements, care and well being of the remaining livestock by enclosing the remaining barn, rebuilding a new barn, cleanup, etc. Every little donation would help!
