Barley Brown Dog Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
Our beloved brown lab barley has a huge tumor in her belly! The vet said it is 10-15 pounds, and thankfully most likely beneign. Because of the size it is life threatening. We must have it surgically removed as soon as possible.
Barley at the vet today.
Everyone who has met Barley knows she is the most loving and mellow dog around, not one mean bone in her. There is no question we must have the surgery ASAP, it will save her life and the chances are very good that she will live her full long and happy life if we treat this quickly.
The crazy thing is, Barley is so mellow we did not realize there was a problem until about a week ago. She was looking a little heavier and being less active, which we chalked up to her aging gracefully. Her graying muzzle fit that picture.
About a week ago we noticed her swelling belly. She's a food hound, and has been known to eat things that give her bad gas so we have kept an eye on her and kept a simple diet with lots of water. When the swelling did not go down Patrick finally brought her in for diagnosis and the tumor was discovered.
The vet recommended we schedule surgery right away. The estimated bill is more than our entire savings. Every extra penny will really help us make sure Barley gets the best treatment we can give her!
Barley has been our companion since the first year at Hidden Fortress. We are devastated by the thought of losing her when she should have many years of happy dog life left to live.
Thank you so very much friends for your help. Advice, moral support, a few coins to help us get through this, everything and anything you can do is super helpful and so very much appreciated!
Estimates for the cost of this are between $4,000 and $5500. This year has been tough financially because of opening the new cafe and the debt we had to incur to get the business off the ground. It has wreaked havoc with our credit as well. The business is starting to do well, but there is a lot of catching up to do financially, so this could not have happened at a worse time!
