Washington National Opera Baritone Jonathan Bryan will present a benefit concert at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9 at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church in Richardson, 3901 North Star Road. Jonathan is returning to his home church to present works from his many performances ranging from Sweeney Todd at Wolf Trap Opera to The Ghosts of Versailles at the Royal Opera of the Chateau of Versailles. He will be accompanied by Amy Pottkotter. Proceeds from the concert will help pay medical expenses for family friend Zippy Shivachi. To donate, please see her GoFundMe page.
Jonathan grew up in Richardson and performed in his first musicals as a student at JJ Pearce High School. After earning a Master's of Music from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, he began his career with the Atlanta Opera Studio and has performed with the Glimmerglass Festival, the Wolf Trap Opera and is currently in his second season as Cafritz Young Artist with the Washington National Opera. He'll make his Kennedy Center debut in May 2022 in Bizet's Carmen.
Because Zippy suffers from an autoimmune disorder and other illnesses, her medical expenses have skyrocketed. Her Dallas medical team has referred her to the Mayo Clinic for further evaluation and treatment. Jonathan and the Bryan family are dedicating the concert and its proceeds to her.
